Clindamycin acne solutions are effective in treating acne cases that are anywhere from mild to severe. Dermatologists will usually prescribe a clindamycin acne medication to someone suffering with acne who has never before treated acne using a prescription acne solution.
How does Clindamycin acne medicine treat acne?
Clindamycin based acne treatments are topical antibiotics that are applied to the acne affected area, usually morning and night. The active ingredient, clindamycin phosphate, kills the Propionibacterium acnes bacteria that causes acne inflammation.
Clindamycin Side effects
While the side effects of clindamycin are generally reported as mild or non-existent, Clindamycin does have more serious possible side effects that any person taking Clindamycin should be aware of.
The most common side effects include red, itchy, dry, irritated skin upon the area where Clindamycin has been applied. More serious, though rare, side effects include diarrhea, blood in stool, and colitis.
